With the world's population expected to reach 10 billion by 2050, large increases in energy demand are predicted at a time of increasing concern about the environmental problems associated with the production of that energy. Using a system of Solar Power Satellites, first proposed in 1968, this program presents a possible solution that is both clean and renewable. This presentation will cover the system architecture, the engineering challenges, the cost/benefits of such a system, and the technological advances that have made this concept more attractive and practical.
