The HTML Color Table

The following table contains the hex RGB color codes used by the various HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) tags and CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) attributes to specify color values. The hex RGB color code, which is preceded by the "#" symbol is presented along with the associated color name, both of which appear above the box containing an example of that color.

Color names are provided to make it easier to identify the associated RGB element. Some of these color names are recognized by the browsers. However, to be safe, always use the hex RGB code. Note that if you want to use the name of a color, the W3C web standards organization has stipulated that only 16 color names will pass their validation tests. As of March 2007, these 16 colors were: aqua, black, blue, fuchsia, gray, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, silver, teal, white, and yellow.

The colors contained in the following table make up the 216 colors deemed to be web safe.
